Triphala is one of the most common medicines in Ayurveda.
Its contents are -
Hareethaki (terminalia chebula) - കടുക്ക
Vibheethaki (terminalia bellerica) - താന്നിക്ക
Amalaki (emblica officinalis) - നെല്ലിക്ക
It is used in the form of Choornam (powder) or kashaayam (decoction).
Uses -
1. Eye disease - The kashaya is used for washing eyes externally. The choornam is used for internal intake in the following manner - 1 teaspoon choornam, 1/2 teaspoon honey and 1 teaspoon ghee is mixed and consumed. Taking this at night improves eyesight.
2. Boosting Immunity - The choornam can be taken with hot water.
3. Curing digestive issues and intestinal ulcer.
4. Reducing blood sugar level
5. Acts as laxative - I teaspoon of powder can be taken with hot water early morning.
6. Helpful in weight loss
7. Acts as a detoxifier
8. Oral Hygiene - Gargle with triphala kashaaya.
9. Washing with kashaaya can help with reducing urinary tract infections
